Countering Military Recruitment Using Open Source Mapping Tools

Peacework co-editor Sam Diener will discuss how we obtained the data from the military. Katherine Fisher will discuss selecting open source mapping tools and the challenges and joys therein. We will demonstrate some of the maps we've created and can create. We'll discuss ways we could go from here to present and help visitors access these data and these maps on the web.

Introduction to Web Video

This is an introductory course outlining best practices in web video production. It covers the basic questions that you should ask—and answer before beginning a video project—or asking someone else to! It offers a supportive, down-to-earth approach so that even those who do not consider themselves to be technically savvy can master basic web video skills. The workshop's objective is to educate non-profits, activists and artists in the foundations of video production for the web using cheap and free technology.
